I have been watching a spike in the commentary re: recent crime via the FB page called Enumclaw Crime Watch. This doesn't appear to be an EPD site (which also concerns me). It seems that at the very least a discussion needs to happen between the citizenry and the Public Safety Committee, including the police Chief re: the assignment of an officer to Crime Prevention (either ad hoc or permanent). The interest in community block watches is obviously there, and I believe the citizens are ready to commit to active participation in this endeavor. I welcome a call from Chief Zoll to discuss initial thoughts on implementing this initiative via EPD. -Diane Lewis, (360) 226-3086

The lack of crosswalks on the west end of Griffin Ave. can make crossing the three lane road dangerous. I can see that stopping traffic on a road as busy as Griffin may be less than desirable but, because this road cuts through the heart of our city it would be fair to add a single well marked means of crossing this Highway on the west end of town (near Semanski St). As an example, the lighted crosswalk used in front of the Enumclaw hospital is a good design. The flashing lights will grab the attention of motorists but will only be activated when use of the crosswalk is needed. A safer means of crossing Griffin also will give residents better access to the businesses on Griffin Ave. like Circle K , TNT Espresso, and The Enumclaw Medical Center, Churches and local Pre Schools just to name a few.

Would be nice to slow the speeds down on McHugh and put money into putting in side walks and tree lined streets

Some of in the city treat our parking strips like it is an existing part of our own lawn for esthetic reasons. The city has not installed curbs in several parts of city and this seems discriminatory from neighborhood to neighborhood. Instead of curbing our street which was the right thing to do, instead we get ugly asphalt lips. I don't get this logic at all. If you are going to spend our tax dollars from car tabs on ugly improvements instead of providing us with curbing that exists all around us EXCEPT our block, that's just not right. Please give us curbing to protect our lawns.
