Municipal broadband within the city limits of Enumclaw would be of great benefit adding to the infrastructure of the city for future use as well as providing a reliable and equitable option for residents and business owners ISP needs. Many other cities in the nation are building their own fiber backbones as to escape the limitations of privately operated entities.
I propose the city planner, as well as the city council entertain the idea, as there are both state and federal grants that can make this a viable investment that will bridge Enumclaw into the future.

When I moved out West here over thirty years ago, right away I met a lady who informed me, nonchalantly, "My husband works for Fred Meyer." I said, "Oh," but rather thought, "Who the heck is Fred Meyer? Why is he important?" And now, many years later, I'll admit that Freddie has become a true Northwest friend. I buy from him. He carries with him the hallmark of what business implies in the Great Northwest. He's akin to what small town Enumclaw is about. Enumclaw might like Fred Meyer better than Walmart. Enumclaw is overdue for a one stop shop in order to keep business alive in and near Enumclaw. Just some thoughts....

I have been watching a spike in the commentary re: recent crime via the FB page called Enumclaw Crime Watch. This doesn't appear to be an EPD site (which also concerns me). It seems that at the very least a discussion needs to happen between the citizenry and the Public Safety Committee, including the police Chief re: the assignment of an officer to Crime Prevention (either ad hoc or permanent). The interest in community block watches is obviously there, and I believe the citizens are ready to commit to active participation in this endeavor. I welcome a call from Chief Zoll to discuss initial thoughts on implementing this initiative via EPD. -Diane Lewis, (360) 226-3086

Perhaps if there was a corridor more towards the outskirts or town to use that would be good. Perhaps if the trucks are coming from Buckley to the PGH yard, they can take it to Farman Rd and then left at Battersby to get to the yard.
Another option is perhaps 416th.
The mixed use of industrial with small town feel is confusing. Perhaps there are some compromises or other ideas.

I've had 158 likes on verbal feedback as to YES we want a special swing in town. 1 is probably enough.
Hope we can make this happen.

It would be nice to have bike trails connect to the Orting trail and new ones to connect from the other side of town. The whole town should have nice walking and bike trails.

The lack of crosswalks on the west end of Griffin Ave. can make crossing the three lane road dangerous. I can see that stopping traffic on a road as busy as Griffin may be less than desirable but, because this road cuts through the heart of our city it would be fair to add a single well marked means of crossing this Highway on the west end of town (near Semanski St). As an example, the lighted crosswalk used in front of the Enumclaw hospital is a good design. The flashing lights will grab the attention of motorists but will only be activated when use of the crosswalk is needed. A safer means of crossing Griffin also will give residents better access to the businesses on Griffin Ave. like Circle K , TNT Espresso, and The Enumclaw Medical Center, Churches and local Pre Schools just to name a few.

It would be nice to see the area next to downtown hotel and Rachito 2 restaurant, become a fenced a play area for the downtown area.
As new neighborhoods are built, some people like to walk downtown to shop or have lunch. However if you have small children you have to comprise with them and let them stretch their legs a bit. Safely.
I think this would be a great repurposing of that area, since most stores close in the evening and the only time to shop is during the day.
It would also be helpful for parents when the parades and community events are going on.

Candidate Name: Darwin Kllingman. He is a 1962 graduate of Enumclaw High School. I will not go into listing all of his his accomplishments because they are well documented on the web. All you have to do is Google his name (“darwin klingman”) and about 2570 results come up. Sadly, Darwin died of a brain tumor in 1989.
Here is a short list of the websites that describe Darwin D. Klingman’s many accomplishments:
1. University of Texas - Professor (1977 - at the age of 33):

2. Biographical Listing on the The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences website. He is listed with 12 Nobel Prize Laureates.

I believe that Dickenson is slated to be extended and cross Hwy 410. This would be a great disservice to our community. Adding more intersections with increasing population and traffic creates a nuisance, not efficiency. There are plenty of places to turn at and little zig zagging on the side streets would be better than stop and go nuisances on a Hwy.
The back up to cross the White River Bridge takes hours already after 4pm. One reason is that town has too many ill timed lights, and in efficient cross streets along Hwy 410.

Some of in the city treat our parking strips like it is an existing part of our own lawn for esthetic reasons. The city has not installed curbs in several parts of city and this seems discriminatory from neighborhood to neighborhood. Instead of curbing our street which was the right thing to do, instead we get ugly asphalt lips. I don't get this logic at all. If you are going to spend our tax dollars from car tabs on ugly improvements instead of providing us with curbing that exists all around us EXCEPT our block, that's just not right. Please give us curbing to protect our lawns.

There is a quick mart (apparently about to rebrand as 7-11) right on the corner of Garfield and 164 and I see young children trying to cross 164 on foot and bike ALL THE TIME. This is a very unsafe situation for the children of our community.
Two possible approaches:
1. Ideally, a crosswalk should be added there. Drivers are within the city limits at that point and providing a crosswalk in such a location adds to overall safety. Additionally (I live on Kibler so I see this a lot), this would add to the safety of children walking to Kibler elementary.
2. REDUCE THE SPEED! The speed limit right in front of that store is 35mph, but changes to 25mph just half a block closer to downtown. If the crosswalk and stopping traffic is a big deal for city council to contemplate, can't we at least move that 25 mph sign down the street a bit farther? (say, on the other side of Semanski?)
