An Enumclaw Summer
Ah summer. The season we all wait for and anticipate. This congers up thoughts of family picnics and backyard barbeques. It also provides for other activities in and around Enumclaw: biking on country roads bordering Enumclaw or on the Foothills Trail, hiking in Federation Forest or three State Parks within 15 minutes of Enumclaw. For the more adventurous backpacking and camping in Mount Rainier National Park using our community as a base. All these amenities are here in Enumclaw’s backyard.
When you’ve worked up a hunger come to Downtown Enumclaw which offers an array of restaurants with a wide range of food selections. Retail has many boutique shops to satisfy local shoppers and visitors that come to our city. Spend time just walking around our early to mid-century downtown and absorb why families move to our community.
Not sure what to do with the children once school ends? Check out the many activities our city Parks and Rec Department is serving up this summer. There is a Summer Activity Guide available detailing the many activities in our city. When those hot summer days are upon us take advantage of our community’s Aquatic Center for a cool change of pace. The city website (www.cityofenumclaw.net ) will provide details, dates and locations on all the offerings from our Park and Rec as well as the pool.
Mark your calendars now for the King County Fair from July 19th - 22nd held at the Enumclaw Expo Center. Can you believe it is now in its 156th year! The Expo Center also has a slew of exciting events scheduled throughout summer, such as the International Dog Show, Scottish Highland Games and the NW Western Swing Festival just to name a few. These and more are listed on their website so you can make plans with family and friends.
The Stars and Stripes 4th of July Parade is once again being hosted by the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce. Attending this parade tradition is a great way to begin the July 4th celebration before you head out to the lakes or barbeque gatherings. Again, further information on this and many more events can be found on the Chamber’s website calendar of events as well as the Live Local 98022 web site.
Don’t sit back and relax, that’s what the rainy season is all about. Get out and about as Enumclaw can keep your summer schedule full for all ages, while creating new memories.
