ENUMCLAW ANNOUNCES
EVENINGS ON THE PLATEAU SERIES
Jo Miller &
Her Burly Roughnecks,
performing country music at its best will hit the Pete's Pool Fieldhouse stage
on May 10, 2008.
Reaching deep into the barrel of classic country sonic scenarios,
Jo Miller has once again come up with a fistful of wistful. Combining her love
of the tried and true beat-laden rockin' sound emanating from the golden western
past with a swinging sensibility that surfs through all of her compositions and
well chosen covers, Jo and her Burly roughnecks are guaranteed to please your
ears and set your feet on edge.
Jo Miller grew homesick for being gone, and now that she's back
she's a real gone cat. Her musical evolution has moved from bluegrass and
western swing to honky-tonk and hillbilly jump. Jo is recognized for writing
songs from another era and making vintage gems her own. She accompanies her
large vocal sound by smackin' out the rhythm on her mighty Epiphone. Style is
her specialty, taste is her trademark, and there is nothing tastier than the
Burly sound the Roughnecks lay down.
The burly
Roughnecks are:
Nova Devonie: Everybody loves somebody sometime and everybody loves Nova
all the time. And why not? Nova is pure joy and delight all rolled up in one big
knee-shakin', accordion-quakin' package. Her fine vocal harmonies are featured
with Jo on several numbers. She has written for and performed in many notable
groups including Ranch Romance and the Nyetz. These days, when she's not being a
Roughneck, you'll find the multitalented Nova Devonie under her bolero sombrero
playing bass with "The Buckaroosters".
David Keenan:
David has certainly earned his moniker, "Twangmaster". His innovative guitar
style is widely respected and garners accolades surpassing even the height of
his hair. He too is a fine singer, composer and studio session player, as much
in demand as he is the man. David can also be heard fronting
"The Buckaroosters",
a local Buck Owens tribute band, and if you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of
David and Nova performing as their altered egos, "Miles & Karina".
Corey Kaiser:
Corey slaps that doghouse bass like he was alive and well in
'56, wastin' away
his time in old Memphis juke joints and staying out way past closing time. Corey
knows of what he speaks, and when he pounds out a solo on those gut strings
everybody listens. They'd better -
at 6'6", he puts the Burly in Roughneck.
Corey also plays the electric longhorn in "West Valley Highway".
Chris Thomas:
He's known throughout the world as
"C.T.", notorious front man of
"Suicide
Jack", and mercernary drummer for hire. He's spent the last twenty years playing
punk, rock and blues with a list as long as his arm of famous renegade
musicians, or so we've heard. But now he's a Burly Roughneck living on the
backbeat in the land of the Hillbilly. He may not look the part, but the boy
can swing. Give him one snare drum (that's all we let him have) and he'll lock
in like a pit bull on a hind leg. CT is a force of rhythm and a visual magnet to
boot. You'll love him and hate him just like the band does.
For
the season finale, the Junior/Senior Showcase is a FREE
event that gives young musicians a chance to show their stuff. We'll see you at
the Enumclaw High School Auditorium for an exciting group of young
performers on May 11, 2008. We'll bring together the best in local high schools
by inviting Enumclaw and White River High Schools to send us their very best for
a wonderful, annual event featuring all of the arts, visual, theater, dance and
music. It's an amazing evening for everyone in the community to attend.
Evenings on the Plateau season tickets are $55 for adults and $42 for
students/seniors. Season family packages are $189 for a family of four. Season
ticket holders enjoy a savings of 30% off single ticket prices. Single tickets
are $14 for adults and $11 for students/seniors.
Don't
forget to purchase Zydeco Spicy Barbeque tickets for $10 each,
pre-sale only. The Zydeco Spicy Barbeque is only for the
Voodoo Mountain Zydeco performance, and dinner tickets will not be
available at the door. All performances will begin at 7:30 PM. The Zydeco
Spicy Barbeque dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at the
Enumclaw Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Programs office or by calling (360)
802-0233. Dinner tickets must be purchased by April 10, 2008.
